Botanical Medicine

Botanical medicine, also known as herbal medicine or herbalism, involves the use of plants to treat disease and promote health. Animals and plants have evolved alongside each other for millennia, so it makes sense that our bodies respond readily to plant medicines. The benefit to using botanical medicines is that they offer a more complete and balanced healing potential, often adapting to the physiology of the human body and helping restore the body’s natural balance. Like many of the naturopathic modalities, herbal medicine is a very old form of medicine used by cultures all around the world.

Dr. Charmainge may prescribe you herbal formulations in the form of dried herbs, liquid tinctures, teas, creams, or ointments. By using the healing power of nature through the medicinal properties of plants, many health conditions can be treated with few or relatively no adverse effects.
